Celebrity Shoe-In

Last Call for Artists
Celebrities Support Survivors

Friday, March 6 is the deadline to enter the Betty Griffin House Celebrity Shoe-In.

For a $100 sponsorship, or individual fee, obtain a shoe or a pair of shoes from a local or non-local prominent community member or celebrity that can be turned into a piece of art.

Local businesses, community organizations or individuals are encouraged to sponsor a shoe for an artist to use as the base for a piece of decorated shoe artwork.

The decorated shoe will be part of a silent auction to be held in April. Profits will benefit the Betty Griffin House to help raise awareness about abuse in St. Johns County. Artists will receive 40% of the auction sale price.

The Artist's deadline to enter an application and the $100 fee is Friday, March 6, 2009. Shoes must be completed and dropped off at the Betty Griffin House by Friday, April 3, 2009. Shoe owners must provide verification of ownership and a brief description of where the shoe has traveled, including a signature. Documentation must be attached to the application!

Shoes must be free standing and 3-dimensional mixed media. No wall hangings please.

A reception will be held at the St. Johns Cultural Council's Art Advocate Gallery, 76B San Marco Ave., St. Augustine, on Saturday April 18 from 6-9p.m. Shoes will remain on display for silent auction through April 25, 2009.
For more information call Kim Collins at 808-8544.
