Todd Grant, project manager with the City of St. Augustine, reported to Historic City News that the controversial Hamilton Upchurch Park will be closed effective Monday, November 30th.

Construction will begin Monday on a sound attenuation wall to be built on the south side of the park. The contractor is Core Construction, Jacksonville.

The wall, along with the installation of additional landscape materials, is an effort to quell the complaints of neighbors and residents in the area stemming from the high level of noise created by skateboarders in the park.

The park, which is located at Red Cox Road and Anastasia Blvd., will be closed through December 21st.
