Local attorney Anne Marie Gennusa announced to Historic City News that Law Day is Friday, May 1, 2009.

The national theme for Law Day this year is “A Legacy of Liberty—Celebrating Lincoln’s Bicentennial.”

Law Day was established by President Dwight Eisenhower on May 1, 1958 to celebrate the rule of law and recognize the contributions of the women and men who work on behalf of our system of law and justice.

The St. John’s County Bar Association will be sponsoring an event for 5th grade students in St. Johns County.

There will be a demonstration from the Sheriff’s office and the “mock” trial of State v. Bart Simpson.

The Honorable Richard O. Watson will be presiding.
