Shows appointed grant director

Historic City News received a report from St. Johns River Community College naming Carla Shows as the new Director of Grant Development.

“I look forward to working with the faculty and staff to develop projects that will support educational excellence and innovation,” Shows said.

Shows will assist the College by enhancing its efforts to identify and pursue federal, state and private funding to benefit all areas of the school. She brings three years of experience in researching, coordinating and acquiring funds as the former grant development coordinator at Daytona State College.

Shows said, “Being able to assist in establishing the grants office at the College is an exciting opportunity.”

Originally from Delaware, Shows holds bachelor’s degrees in sociology and criminal justice from the University of Delaware. She earned her master’s degree in sociology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Shows’ diverse experience includes working as a research and teaching assistant at UMass. She has successfully published articles in various national publications including the “Public Sociology Reader.”
