Community choir presents Bach Fest

The St. Augustine Community Chorus will present A BACH FEST, 3:30, Sunday, May 4 at the Ancient City Baptist Church in St. Augustine. The Chorus and soloists will sing J.S. Bach’s MAGNIFICAT, THE PEASANT CANTATA, and CANTATA No. 80. Cantata No. 80 is based on the hymn tune A Mighty Fortress is our God.

Former employee arrested for fraud

26 year old Eric Ryan Vaughn is in custody pending $5,000.00 bond for charges stemming from a reported attempt to defraud a former employer by making unauthorized charges to the company’s account as well as two previous outstanding warrants. Prowler spotted at Hastings apartments

The Hastings Manor apartments were the scene of an apparent burglary attempt sometime after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Bouchard was called to the scene of one apartment where the resident heard noises outside. An unknown male suspect was seen fleeing on foot after the resident went outside to investigate the noise.

Monday, April 28, Gypsy Cab and the St. Johns Cultural Council have teamed up to present the first movie for their Cultural Film Series. A portion of the $25 per person ticket price will benefit the St. Johns Cultural Council and support their operations according to an announcement received by Historic City Media.

TDC Cat II Funding Workshops

Two workshops scheduled for April 28 and April 30, are being held by the SJC Tourist Development Council (TDC) to assist not-for-profit groups in applying for Category II funding support for special events. Last year, the TDC awarded $508,000 in Category II funding.

Northwest auto burglaries

Two separate reports of auto burglaries were answered by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Northwest Sector Patrol Division yesterday; a global positioning system (GPS) device was stolen in each burglary. Another similarity – the owner of each burglarized vehicle reported to deputies that their vehicles were left unlocked overnight.
